Early season bait

This is my personal favorite color and style for early season live bait jig fishing. I like the lightest jig I can get away with and successfully fish 15' or less of water in varying wind conditions, which for me is the 1/8oz Short Shank Flasher jig. In the spring, I use chartreuse predominately, and this is solely because it's personal confidence in the color and the product. I know other Flasher colors may work, but if it isn't broke, don't fix it. I tend to use smaller hops with my Flasher Jig and minnow combination with longer pauses between movements. I will also incorporate random dragging of the jig to draw strikes from more negative cold water Walleye. This has worked well the last few years early season for Walleye.
